By harvesting the natural, clean power of the sun, wind or water, people all over the planet can produce their own pollution-free, reliable electricity. Technological advances, government tax credits, peak oil and the need to reduce our reliance on foreign oil, have made these renewable energy systems attractive to more and more people around the world. Alternative energy technologies make it possible for home and business owners to have dependable power from clean renewable sources to help preserve our planet for future generations. Mass production has significantly reduced the price of alternative energy systems and their components. Research and development has greatly increased efficiencies of these systems also. Peak oil and the growing energy demand from China and India and many other nations, will have everyone looking for post carbon energy solutions that can sustain life on earth for many generations without the risk of radioactive waste and global warming. There has never been a better time to consider changing over to these renewable resources. The use of renewable sources such as the wind, water and sun, increases our energy self-sufficiency and promotes economic growth and national security. As more and more families, individuals, small businesses, corporate America and even our military begin to generate their own renewable energy, we will reduce pollution, make clean energy available in third world nations and make the quality of life better for all our current and future inhabitants of this big blue planet. There are state, local and federal tax incentives to encourage the use of alternative energy. The federal tax incentive, called the 'Energy Credit', allows businesses to take a 30% credit for renewable energy equipment (solar electric or photovoltaics, solar thermal such as solar hot water and wind generator power systems). The same incentive is available for residential customers, but a cap of $2000 applies. To access current information on your state's tax incentives, click here for the 'Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy'. |
